Brian continues to be stable. His bilirubin has increased slightly to 17.3 as of this morning. His other labs, however, look okay. His doctors clamped off one of his canulas (tube that returns blood to his heart) to see if his heart would be strong enough to pump blood through his body without needing to be assisted by the ECMO machine. It was not strong enough to do this, so the doctors are now looking at using two circuits that will be separated to bypass both the heart and lungs. Hopefully, this will assist in getting more oxygenated blood throughout his body as needed. He is starting to have some issues with bleeding in his mouth again, which is being carefully monitored. His care team removed any tubes that were in his mouth and plan to have an ENT specialist look closer at his mouth in the morning. We are hoping to get in to see him before the procedure that is tentatively scheduled.
