July 11

Early this morning, I received a call from Brian's doctor notifying me that the medical team had decided to postpone Brian's test to Monday morning. There will be more medical staff available on Monday in comparison to Sunday. This is part of the reason why I was surprised when she told me the day before that they were planning to do it on Sunday.

When we got to the hospital, Brian's doctor asked me to speak to her in a conference room. She told me that she thinks Brian has the numbers to be able to be taken off of the AV ECMO machine if he stays stable. This sounds good, however, she did express concern though that it will be with the maximum level of medication being administered to him. She is not sure how sustainable this is. Brian struggles with his heart rate, oxygen levels, pulmonary arterial pressures, etc. every time they try and adjust his body.  It is an indication that his body is in very critical condition. Even if Brian comes off the AV ECMO machine, he will still be too sick to be in good enough condition to be recommended for a lung transplant. If he doesn't have good enough numbers to come off of the AV ECMO machine tomorrow, then he will remain on the machine for a few more days before they attempt the test again.
