Brian had his heart test today and he passed! His numbers were high enough that the heart surgeons have decided to move forward with removing the canulas that attach Brian's heart to the VA ECMO machine. Before this can happen, he will be taken to the operating room and the heart test will be repeated. If the surgeons feel confident that Brian's heart continues to look strong enough, then they will proceed with the operation. This will take 3-4 hours from start to finish. Once complete, his surgeon will call me and give an update. It will likely be fairly late this evening before I receive word.
**Brian's surgery to remove the canulas attaching Brian's heart to the VA ECMO machine went well. His oxygenation levels look good post op.**
This sounds like a step in the right direction. We’re praying his heart continues to be strong. ❤️
