July 14

Brian's heart appears to be tolerating being on just the VV ECMO machine for his lungs fairly well. When his nurses move him, he doesn't have as much of a negative reaction with his heart rate, oxygen levels, and pulmonary arterial pressures. He is still requiring a higher amount of blood pressure medications than his doctor would like to see. She is concerned that between the high amount of blood pressure medications he is requiring and a large amount of mucus that was extracted today during his bronchoscopy, Brian may have an infection. Tomorrow, he is scheduled to have CT scans throughout his body to see if they can detect anything. He is not currently on any paralytic medication but is still heavily sedated. So far, he has not responded to commands. His doctor is hopeful that they will be able to get a response from him soon.  His total bilirubin count is at 13 today (slowly heading down, which is the right direction).

  1. So happy for the good news and prayers for more each day. Seems like Brian is under great care.
