July 3

Brian had a small setback overnight. One of his ECMO machines needed more blood flow than what was available, so his nurse had to increase the amount of fluid in his body. Once his machine stopped alarming, they went back to trying to decrease the amount of fluid in his body. It is a constant give and take with what the machines will tolerate and what will help Brian. He was supposed to have the Pulmonary Arterial catheter reinserted in his neck today, but his nurse called me around 5pm to let me know that there were other more time-sensitive needs today, so Brian was bumped to tomorrow for the procedure.
