Shortly before the scheduled time to test to see if Brian's heart is strong enough to come off of the AV ECMO machine, Brian's doctor came into the room and let me know that they decided to cancel the test. Over night, his blood pressure and oxygen levels were lower than what they would like to see and a culture came back indicating that Brian has pneumonia in his lungs. His doctor would like to give Brian at least a few days to try and recover from pneumonia before considering running the heart test.
