Brian's doctor called this afternoon to ask for consent to put another PICC line in his arm to deliver a new medication. A PICC line is a longer than standard I.V. line used to deliver medication. This particular medication cannot be mixed with other medications and thus needs its own delivery system. The new medication is called Veletri. According to Brian's doctor, Brian's blood pressure has been inconsistent. Sometimes it is higher than it should be and sometimes it is lower than it should be. This medication is used for controlling functions in the body such as blood pressure and muscle contractions. He hopes that in a few days, it will improve his blood pressure but if it causes his pressure to go down too much, then they will have to take him off of it. Brian's bilirubin level is at 15 today. The main focus continues to be removing as much excess fluid as his body and the two ECMO machines will allow.
